Karate: Demonstrations and Initiations
Discover who you are through karate! Karate is the product of a rich history, with many variations linked to different cultures and eras. What makes it special among the great budo is that it has preserved all traces of its history in a variety of forms. As a result, there are a wide variety of styles and schools, making it one of the richest forms of karate. Karate is a martial art involving both offensive and defensive techniques, using all parts of the body (hands, feet, etc.). Come and give it a try!
Discover and practice karate in the company of French team athletes. They'll introduce you to their disciplines (kata and combat) through initiations and demonstrations throughout the day.
You'll have the opportunity to learn the basics of a karate class (kicking, punching, moving, not forgetting the famous "kiai": the karateka's cry) from our top-level athletes, regulars at international competitions. You'll also have the chance to watch a real demonstration by our champions following the initiations.
Initiations and demonstrations last between 30 and 45 minutes and are free of charge and without registration. Several of them take place throughout the day (times specified on site and on the program on the Japan Expo website). Between initiations and demonstrations, come and meet our athletes and staff to find out more about the French Karate Federation and maybe find a club near you!
Karate is accessible to all ages (baby karate from 3 years) and physical conditions. It's also accessible to people with disabilities.
We hope to see you there!
