Iaidô - Demonstration
Come have a look at iaidô, on the Sakura stage with Kyomoto, a master of this art who has created his own school.
Iaidô is one of the Japanese martial arts practiced with a sword and it has carried on since the Muromachi period, in the 16th century. The main concept of iaidô is to observe carefully and find the best timing to draw out a sword from its scabbard to defeat the opponent with one stroke.
At Japan Expo, Kyomoto will give everyone, not only those interested in iaidô, an opportunity to discover the traditional culture of Japan through this art, including the importance of the sword and of courtesy.
He will be performing his art on stage to show the technics of his own school which is renowned to be the fastest, easiest, safest and most beautiful way to handle a katana. He will also show some videos explaining how to draw out and to put the katana back in the scabbard.
