3D textile printing for cosplay

Discover a new dimension of 3D printing in cosplay! Contrary to popular belief that 3D printing is limited to the creation of armor, objects or other rigid elements, you can also manufacture flexible materials and even innovative textiles.

In this masterclass, you'll learn how to print mesh rib elements in PLA, as well as create fashion pieces with holographic effects.

Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate, this session offers you practical knowledge and techniques to diversify your cosplay creations thanks to 3D printing.

A cosplayer since 2011, Eviltam has taken part in a number of competitions, and was even lucky enough to represent Belgium in 2014 at the European Cosplay Gathering as a soloist, and at the C4 ( Clara's Cow Cosplay Cup ) as a duo. She is particularly fond of making armor and also completely ridiculous costumes. After a few years' break, Eviltam is gradually getting back into cosplay, always with the same desire to have fun. She intends to return to the stage one day, even if it's not her primary objective.

Eviltam is best known for her Jane Shepard costume from Mass Effect, which introduced her to the international scene, and for Katy Perry's Left Shark, probably the most accomplished costume of her cosplaying career.

Like many cosplayers, she has an annoying tendency to hoard projects and piles of fabric, and she admits to having a serious problem with deadlines, but fortunately not (too much) in her professional work. She loves to share and discuss all crafting techniques, so don't hesitate to go and talk to her if you're just starting out in the wonderful world of cosplay.

Techniques in the world of cosplay are constantly diversifying, and 3D printing is a prime example. Having been around for a few years now, 3D printing enables cosplayers to push back the boundaries of creativity, offering meticulous detail and complex structures that sometimes defy gravity. Textile 3D printing takes these possibilities even further.

Whether creating lightweight mesh ribs, fabrics printed with holographic effects, or even footwear, imagination becomes the only limit. This masterclass will teach you the essential basics, covering both the materials and techniques needed to achieve results worthy of the greatest.
