Keiichi Ichikawa
We are proud to welcome Keiichi Ichikawa at Japan Expo! Come meet this animator who significantly contributed to the Saint Seiya franchise and who has been the chief animation director of the One Piece anime since 2017!
Keiichi Ichikawa began his career in the animation studio of the great Shingo Araki, Araki Productions. Thus, he quickly starts to work on productions by Toei Animation, such as the 1996 GeGeGe no Kitaro anime or The Kindaichi Case Files TV series.
In the middle of the 2000s, he participated in the OVA Saint Seiya: The Hades Chapter as Shingo Araki's assistant. He then did his first character designs at his side in the last season of Ring ni Kakero, the anime adaptation of Masami Kurumada's other cult manga besides Saint Seiya. Keiichi Ichikawa continues contributing to the Saint Seiya franchise as he was a recurring animator on Saint Seiya Omega and a character designer for Saint Seiya: Saintia Shô.
Since 2017, Keiichi Ichikawa has been the Chief Animation Director of the One Piece TV series, the most important position an animator can occupy. His role is essential in ensuring the visual quality of one of the most popular series ever.
