Mika KOBAYASHI
Maybe you know the singer-songwriter Mika KOBAYASHI for her participation in famous anime themes such as Attack on Titan or Kill la Kill. After her first coming to Japan Expo last year, she’s back to perform with the samurai artist group KAMUI and joins the Anisong Festa, the concert dedicated to anime music organized on Friday in the evening!
Biography
Mika KOBAYASHI was born in Hiroshima, Japan. She started learning the piano when she was young. Though she was keener on acting and dancing at certain times of her youth, she ended up creating her own music band in high school. This led her to a decision to pursue a career as a singer. She moved to Tokyo at the age of 18 and started to compose songs, becoming a singer-songwriter and dancer.
At 22, she was awarded a grand prize at a vocal audition among more than 1,000 other entrants. After some twists and turns, she finally found her own style and at 25 started the music career which better reflects her core-self.
Having felt that she went the long way around to reach this point, she felt an urge to create something original based on her personal experiences. She started to create a stage performance combining acting and music, collaborating with performers and actors she believed presented high-grade performance.
Her work Itoguruma (Spinning Wheel), in which an actress performs as a doll, was featured in Italy. The audience gave her a standing ovation. Mika KOBAYASHI then realized her expression style can convey her messages even in a foreign country.
