Ikumi Togawa
Admire Ikumi Togawa's dance choreographies on stage at Japan Expo, accompanied by shamisen melodies by Yuzu Natsumi.
Artist-dancer born in Kanagawa, Japan, living in Paris, Ikumi Togawa was trained in ballet and modern dance from childhood. Feeling the physical connection between dance and painting, she entered the oil painting department of Musashino University of Fine Arts in Tokyo in 2011. At her graduation exhibition, she presented the work The Ocean is in the Seed, which merged the creative process of painting and dance, for which she received an award for excellence from her university.
Since then, she has collaborated with many musicians, photographers, and filmmakers and is passionate about the choreographic creation of dancing bodies and the environment built around them. In 2019, she studied dance research methods at University Paris VIII and is currently pursuing her master's degree. In 2020, she was artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and she is currently working as a researcher and artist-dancer to make her world known.
Meet her on stage at Japan Expo, where she will dance to music played on the shamisen by Yuzu Natsumi.
