Biography
PIKOTARO was born on July 17, 1963 in Chiba. The artists he respects most are Stevie Wonder, Kraftwerk, M.I.A, Anri, Sayuri Ishikawa, Mariah Carey, Junko Yagami, and Ariana Grande.
PIKOTARO made his sensational global break after posting his video of PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen) in August of 2016, later picked up by Justin Bieber and the media around the world such as CNN and BBC! To this day, it has reached more than 130,000,000 views. PIKOTARO was awarded a Guinness World Record as the first Japanese ranking on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 26 years with “the SHORTEST length song”!
PIKOTARO is now active as the Goodwill Ambassador for Promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, a mission assigned to him by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs! A DVD/Blu-ray of PPAPPT in Budokan, PIKOTARO's live concert held last year, was released on April 18, 2018.
