Buichi TERASAWA’s state of health
After the announcement yesterday of Buichi TERASAWA’s coming cancellation, we received some more information about his health. Fortunately, and it is a relief, he is out of danger. Yet his doctor confirmed that he is no shape to go on a long-haul flight and we all agree that his health is a priority.
This is the statement his agency sent us:
"We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the interest you took in the coming of our author, Buichi Terasawa, at Japan Expo.
Unfortunately, and however hard it is for us to say, the Master’s state of health does not allow him to make this trip: he has to cancel his coming to this edition of the festival.
We, A-girl Rights Co. Ltd. Who represent Buichi Terasawa, apologize deeply, as much as the author himself.
Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Cobra was an exciting project for which we had worked hard with his French publishing house, isan manga, and with Japan Expo. We couldn’t wait to meet the French fans.
We thought the Master was fit enough to come but as the festival was getting close, his personal doctor warned us after the results of an examination that such a long trip would be dangerous for his health.
Cancelling his coming was a difficult decision to make.
We thank you for your understanding and for the esteem you have for Buichi Terasawa and his work: please know that we appreciate your support."
The whole team of Japan Expo wishes him to get better soon.
As for the festival programming, we wish to reassure you: Japan Expo will still be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Cobra and the event planned will be maintained.
You can visit the exhibit dedicated to his work where you can admire illustrations and dioramas, as well as discover his avant-garde manga techniques. Many Space Opera events will also take place during the festival.
