Lupin the Third: panel and screening

Happy anniversary Lupin the Third! Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of this cult saga at Japan Expo with a panel and the screening of two episodes!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lupin the Third, Japan Expo is hosting a great event on Thursday, July 6 on the Yuzu stage, during which will be evoked the creation of the manga, its adaptation in anime by several great directors, and will be announced a new project that will see the famous burglar coming to the country of his ancestor Arsène Lupin.

The event is composed of the screening of two episodes, and before that of a panel with:

  • Shuhei KATO, CEO of M.P. Works.
  • Yu KIYOZONO, President of the studio TELECOM
  • Ryota KATO, senior vice president/managing director, TMS.
  • Kazuhide TOMONAGA, director/animator

1980 - Japanese title: Shi no Tsubasa Albatross

Hayao MIYAZAKI had already participated in the first TV series of Lupin the Third. It was just after the success of the movie Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro that he started the making of this episode of the most famous Japanese burglar’s second series.

2015 - Japanese title: Rupan Sansei no Kekkon

Part IV has been directed by Kazuhide TOMONAGA, who had worked as an animator on Part II (1977-1980) and on Hayao MIYAZAKI’s famous movie The Castle of Cagliostro. After a 30-year break, Lupin the Third made his come back to TV series, with a stop in Italy. The hero, in a blue jacket this time, embarked on new adventures that started with a wedding.
