Tsukasa SAIMURA
Zombie alert! In partnership with publisher Glénat Manga, Japan Expo welcomes the authors of the manga Crueler Than Dead: the writer Tsukasa SAIMURA, along with the illustrator Kôzô TAKAHASHI!
Biography
Born in Tokyo, Tsukasa SAIMURA grew up in Hong Kong. His favorite zombie is Tarman. As a scriptwriter, Crueler Than Dead is his first manga. He has worked on the one shot Dango Mushi Dream as an illustrator and writer, for which he won in early 2007 the Tetsuya Chiba Prize from Kôdansha.
His first series as an illustrator and writer is Tokyo Undead, published in Play Comic from Akita Shoten (2012 - 2013). His second and current series is Igai - The Play Dead/Alive published in Comic Ryû from Tokuma Shoten. 2 volumes have been released and the 3rd will be published next summer. The 1st 2 volumes have been printed at 150,000 copies (200,000 with foreign editions).
Along with Kôzô TAKAHASHI, Tsukasa SAIMURA makes a duo of zombie experts in manga, and they made their best in the gore genre with Crueler Than Dead! Both artists are at Japan Expo this summer for the release of the 1st volume on June 9.
Crueler Than Dead
She wakes up in a scraggy world. She doesn’t have a clue who she is or where she is. All she knows is that she is in danger, a prey in wordl invaded by zombies. Killing, hiding, running on and on, finding weapons, finding food, running away for a place where she can keep on living a little more. And trying to understand why. Why this world, why all those zombies? And why did she, healthy, alive, human, has just been throwing up… human fingers!?
