The Cité internationale de la tapisserie is an atypical public institution located in Aubusson, in the Creuse region of France. Both a museum dedicated to the study and promotion of Aubusson tapestry and a place for training and support for a six-century-old professional sector, the Cité has developed an ambitious policy of contemporary creation since its creation in 2011. In 2019, the Cité has signed a partnership agreement with Studio Ghibli Inc. for the creation of a set of six tapestries based on images taken from the films of renowned director Hayao Miyazaki. The production of these monumental tapestries (between 17 and 31.5m2) continues today in Aubusson, with an exceptional fifth tapestry dedicated to Studio Ghibli's most emblematic film: My Neighbor Totoro.
