Vantan Game Academy
Vantan Game Academy is back at Japan Expo: its students have realized illustrations about world cultures. And you can vote for your favorite!
Presentation
Vantan Game Academy, celebrating its 25 years’ existence, is the oldest video game content creation school in Japan. It’s also a school for all creators: video games but also manga, anime and dubbing (seiyû). To train creators able to be their generation’s leader and to use the latest technologies, it encourages practice through collaborations with professionals.
In 2013, Vantan Game Academy had organized workshops at Japan Expo, and then in 2014, it proposed to its students to take part in an Anniversary illustration contest for the festival 15th Anniversary.
Exhibit
This year again, the school organized an illustration contest about world cultures. The students had to realize illustrations about world cultures as they see them, based on European folk costumes.
Among all the students who took part in it, 20 have been chosen to show their works at Japan Expo. Each one of them used their talent and creativity to work on the illustrations presented in the exhibit. The results show their interest in and respect for other cultures.
The winners
3 students have been rewarded for their work by a Jury prize. Another one will be selected by Japan Expo’s fans on social networks (more information below).
The 3 winners are:
- 1st prize: Mont Saint-Michel by Watanabe Athushi
- 2nd prize: Rio-to by Asami Rubi (illustration of Russia in the style of Japanese board games)
- 3rd prize: The Day We Fell in Love by Ootomo Marie (in the background, Alsace)
- The public's prize: Sherlock Holmes's Adventure by Ozaki Yuu
Congrats to the winners! And don’t forget to come admire their works at the exhibit at Japan Expo.
