WABI SABI is about Japanese aesthetic values, and it’s also a series of exhibits presented at Japan Expo every year since 2011, which offer a unique insight of Japanese arts and crafts. A cultural and artistic journey to the heart of a space dedicated to Japanese culture and traditions!
Over 700 sqm, the WABI SABI exhibit unveils various artistic works and techniques, pursuing the same goal as in the previous years. Craftsmen and artists are part of it: more than 120 of them are coming to present their works and offering demonstrations all along the festival.

Keisuke KURIHARA
Keisuku KURIHARA is a photographer specialized in photos expressing the concept of wabi sabi. The artist takes photos of flowers, getting his inspiration from the concepts found in poetry or the tea ceremony. Every work allows the viewer to get a little closer to the Japanese way of thinking.

Katsuhiro MIYAUCHI
Katsuhiro MIYAUCHI is a photographer specialized in photographs of the Kyoto geisha. The artist exposed his geisha photos ten years ago in Paris, and was touched by the public’s reaction. His photos show Japanese beauty and culture under a soft light and offer a unique approach to the hidden side of traditional culture in Kyoto.
Gotouchikon NAVI
The latest trend in Japan is to organize one’s wedding party in a place listed as a World Heritage Site, in a famous spot, a sanctuary, a temple or a renowed Japanese garden. Gotouchikon NAVI offers you to discover Japanese wedding ceremonies from every region as well as the traditional clothes associated with it.

Eisetsu SEKI
Eisetsu SEKI tries, through photos of nature, to raise the cry of alarm about its degradation. The artist has been taking photos for 30 years and maintains that his photos express faithfully his feelings.

Yoshio TANAKA
Yoshio TANAKA is coming back to Japan Expo for the second time. His photos allow you to discover the most beautiful Japanese sceneries, and nature’s beauty. Every photo is so precise that you can imagine every single flower petal, the leafs of every tree, rustling in the wind.

Yoshiko YAMAGUCHI
Yoshiko YAMAGUCHI mainly photographs Japanese koi carps. The artist plays with the golden, silver and red colors of these fishes, but also shows off seasons by playing with symbols. She also uses her photos as prints on kimono or fans.
