kapuwa with CREATORS TOKYO
CREATORS TOKYO is a group of young designers who present their creations on their stand and on stage during a fashion show. Among the 5 creators who will be here, don’t miss Aiko MIYAMOTO’s models!
Introduction
“When you wear your favorite clothes, you subconsciously feel happy. I would like to create this kind of clothes.”
In 2005, Aiko MIYAMOTO graduated from Bunka Fashion College (design section) and creates the brand Dog Wear. Two years after her first trip to India in 2008, Aiko MIYAMOTO launched her collection kapuwa. She went back there several times and loved this country and the people she met there.
She does wood printing, a traditional technique discovered in India which involves carving an original drawing in wood, and superimpose colors. She considers every step of the cloth making, from design to realization, a unique activity.
A craftsman carves the wood, the second creates the color, another one takes care of the printing, the next washes the fabric, the fifth cuts and the last one sews. Aiko MIYAMOTO likes people who wear her clothes to feel the work of each one of her employees.
In 2011, she presented her first spring-summer collection.
Don't miss Aiko MIYAMOTO during the Japan Fashion Days for the show CREATORS TOKYO 5 x AI☆MADONNA on Sunday on the Ichigô stage!
